Extra Curricular Activities

Yoga

Here at the kinder garden we encourage children to
participate in Yoga and relaxation activities. It is proven that children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and
body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and
relaxation improves.

Cooking Class

Spending time in the kitchen and cooking new recipes helps children to develop a positive connection to all different types of foods including fruits and vegetables. Forming a positive experience with fresh foods is so important as healthy foods are the foundation for good nutrition. Children will also learn basic cooking skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. Children learn by touching, tasting, feeling, smelling, and listening. They love activities in the kitchen because it allows them to incorporate and  use all their senses

Sports

The benefits of sport activities within the Kinder Garden are endless. Activity helps reduce the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. It Improves physical skills like coordination and balance. And teaches the children about teamwork. Team sports are said to strengthen the five C’s: competence, confidence, connections, character, and caring. At the heart of this is self-esteem – an increased sense of self as a result of better social interactions, stronger relationships, and higher academic performance.

Munch and Move Activities

Munch & Move is NSW Health initiative that supports the healthy development of children birth to 5 years by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time.  All of our educators at the kinder garden have had Munch & Move training. The training aims to assist educators to implement a fun, play-based approach to supporting healthy eating and physical activity habits in young children. The Munch & Move program fits within the new National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Active After School Care program

The AASC program delivers structured physical activity sessions to primary school aged children at sites after school between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. The activities delivered in the AASC program are designed to increase children’s participation in structured physical activity, develop fundamental motor skills, and foster a lifelong love of physical activity.

Community Connections

For children, a sense of community plays an important role in the development of their feelings of belonging and security. They can foster supportive relationships between families as well as connecting families to other organisations and services in the local community. Each of our services ensure they have strong relationships within their communities so that the children build those relationships too.

Sustainability At Our Services

At the Kinder Garden services, we feel it is so important to teach the children about the environment in which they live and create. Promoting awareness of the environment through ‘green housekeeping practices’ such as healthy eating, gardening, minimising waste, recycling and reducing water and energy consumption. Assist children in developing an understanding and respect for the environment and encourage critical thinking.

Language

The ELLA PROGRAM is a digital, play-based language learning program for preschool children. This Australian Government initiative inspires children by driving a genuine interest in a new language and culture. This is a new addition to the Kinder Garden in 2020.

School Readiness Program

Here at the kinder Garden we aim to make all children feel safe, comfortable and secure, so that they have the confidence to learn new, exciting, challenging and stimulating activities, which will help them as they grow and eventually move into the primary education program.

Our early childhood teachers have the experience and knowledge to prepare children for the next stage of their learning. We utilise our community partnerships to ensure that our programs deliver the learning outcomes needed for children and their families to enter the school environment.

Our programs and daily routines foster each child’s developing social and emotional skills, supporting each child’s inter-dependence with self-help skills and the ability to manage change and new challenges.

Our early childhood teachers develop and implement program experiences that support inquiry-based learning, which encourage children to be critical thinkers and involved participants in their own learning and overall wellbeing.

Ready Set Dance

Ready Set Dance is an innovative program designed specifically to introduce young children to the world of dance. In each class teachers explore aspects of the Ready Set Dance curriculum through playful approaches which are responsive to the curiosity and imagination of young learners.
